New Year/Venus Rx: Cloud of Uncertainty

"I just want to fast-forward to the part of my life where everything's okay." Issa Dee, in the last episode of Insecure, represents all of us right now. We are in the impossibly uncomfortable space where the old is crumbling but the new isn't ready yet. Can't we just skip to the good part?

We enter the New Year surrounded by a cloud of uncertainty. So much death, so much grieving, so much anger, so much violence. When will it all end?

This Venus Retrograde period sees our systems of care falling apart. Our collective values are too selfish and self-serving to carry us through the many crises of this moment. We have acted as if we could take and take and take forever without giving back. We're seeing that societies and economic models based on the unrealistic premise of unlimited growth were short-sighted and stupid. The inevitable day of reckoning is upon us.

If we resist the urge to withdraw and escape from responsibility for our actions and instead actively hold the contradictions which are tearing us up, we will find that we know the answers. We know how to implement those answers. We can find our power by acknowledging that we control nothing and that our individual well-being depends on the decisions and actions of others. We can embrace our interconnectedness.

As paradoxical and counterintuitive as it may seem, the power play at the moment is to be open and vulnerable. To stop fighting the unknown and walk into it with our eyes closed and our hearts open. Only then will we be ready to do the hard and dirty work of change.

  2. This describes my very feelings at the moment. I do believe I know, but I want the path to be clearly defined or I will take an affirmation that what I think I know is accurate. The vulnerability mixed with my diagnosis of anxiety is terrifying to me.

    1. The key when you're feeling like that and your anxiety is rising is to slow down, take literal and figurative breaths, and wait for the answer to come. Rushing is counterproductive. Slow down, take it easy, and don't pressure yourself.
